About Unfold Amsterdam

What is Unfold?

A poster publication. We produce and distribute posters every two weeks. On one side is an original art poster inspired by an upcoming Amsterdam event. On the flipside are our editorial tips about what’s on in Amsterdam.

There are three key elements to Unfold:

1. An original art poster by a locally based artist. In this sense, Unfold is very much an Amsterdam art project. Collect our posters, support the scene.

2. A mini magazine focussed on what’s happening in Amsterdam. We want to inspire you to get out and have a good time in this beautiful town.

3. A website where you can find more extensive ‘what’s on’ listings, city blogs, artist profiles and more. We’re excited by the limitless potential and have only just got the ball rolling.

Who is Unfold?

We are writers and designers lucky enough to have been involved in Amsterdam print publishing for the past six years. We’re aided by wonderful friends, inspirational colleagues and continue to find new talent to work with. We know our place, which is undeniably standing on the shoulders of Amsterdam print and design superstars.

Web versus print?

Unfold loves both paper and digital media. It also loves the environment. We will print our posters every two weeks on A2 sheets of recycled FSC certified paper. Our circulation is 5,000 copies, targeted to specific audiences across town.

We also believe web and print can co-exist. Got a smartphone? Got a barcode scanner app (such as ShopSavvy or Barcode Scanner)? If you use one, you can point the camera on your phone at the barcode on our posters. A few seconds later our website will open on your phone. Wherever you are, you can find out what cool things are happening today. No smartphone? Apparently if you stare really hard at the barcode, the website will open in your mind.
