THURSDAY 26 AUGUST
Hortus Botanicus, 19.30, €7.50 (Hortus entry)
A season of plants and music ends this week at Hortus Botanicus in Amsterdam. String quartets and small ensembles have been fighting the awkward August weather as they attempted to play summery classics amidst the rare plant species.
For this final instalment, the HortusEnsemble will perform a 19th century Francophile programme titled ‘Les Mariés de la tour Eiffel’, including works by Poulenc, Roussel, Stravinsky and Ravel. Music apart, it’s a great opportunity to access the gardens outside regular opening hours.
