WEDNESDAY 6 APRIL
Paradiso (Kleine Zaal), 22.00, €8 + membership
One of these days I shall have to write a big thank you note to the city of Bergen for delivering all of its magical dance beats and summer soundtracks. Thank you for Annie and for Datarock, for The Kings of Convenience and the Casiokids. But above all, thank you for bringing Kakkmaddafakka to town today. It’s perfect timing because these four Norwegian boys will save Amsterdam from falling into a midweek depression. Their latest self-titled release, produced by Erlend Øye, shows off their fearless and shameless love for pop music and superheroes, discussing the great wonders of life and lust while existing in a Monty Python world. Some of you might already have unknowingly had the pleasure of listening to their song ‘What If (Justin Timberlake)’ two years ago, when Erlend Øye performed an acoustic version at a Kings of Convenience gig in Paradiso. Should you have a superhero outfit available tonight, wear it!
